One of the top sophomores in the nation, D.J. Harvey, has a frontrunner.

“Arizona stands at the top,” Harvey told SNY.tv. “Georgetown, Memphis, Texas, Houston, Tennessee, NC State, Miami and Xavier have offered, UCLA, Duke, Kansas, Stanford, Villanova and Louisville are all showing heavy interest.”

Harvey played a high level of basketball from a young age. Starting at Christ School (N.C.), a program that has produced Mason and Miles Plumlee, Harvey played varsity as an eighth-grader, before leaving to attend DeMatha (Md.) starting his freshman year.

Ranked No. 13 in the nation in the class of 2017 by 247 Sports, Harvey has grown to 6-foot-6 1/2. He says that his game has evolved over the past couple months and that he needs to continue to improve.

“I need to show that I can keep up this high level of play from the summer,” Harvey said. “I need to bring it into the season. Also I need to show that I improved in every aspect of the game including leadership.”

Harvey says that he thinks DeMatha is primed for a big year, with team chemistry functioning at a high level heading into the season.

“I feel great, our chemistry couldn’t be better,” Harvey said. “We have a lot of good players that are hungry for a championship. Especially the seniors that are playing their last year in high school.”

Harvey said that he feels like a couple aspects of his game have improved drastically, and heading into his sophomore year it could be something that will be extremely beneficial.

“My shooting is way more consistent, and my handle is the best it’s been, and I think it’s shown,” Harvey said. “The team has been doing yoga every week and its really helped my athleticism.”

Harvey currently holds offers from Arizona, N.C. State, Georgetown, Houston, Memphis, Texas, Tennessee, Xavier and Winthrop.
