Malik Newman could turn out to be this year’s Andrew Wiggins.
At least in terms of when he makes his college decision.
Newman won’t decide until after April 15, the NCAA deadline for college players to declare for the NBA, his father told Paul Biancardi of ESPN.com.
The NBA has its own deadline for college players to declare, which follows the NCAA deadline.
The 6-foot-4 Newman is considering Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi State and N.C. State, among others.
Wiggins didn’t announce for Kansas until May 14 last year.
In other Newman news, he and his Calloway (MS) teammates will square off against Diamond Stone and Milwaukee (WI) Dominican on Feb. 14 on ESPNU.
Stone also won’t sign until the late period.
Newman and Stone have discussed a potential package deal.
