Kentucky continues to track 2016 Christ the King guard Rawle Alkins after SNY.tv reported they first reached out in July.
“Slice called my coach [Joe Arbitello],” Alkins told SNY.tv.
Alkins said Arbitello told him Kentucky assistant Barry “Slice” Rohrssen said, “Rawle is the real deal, I see” after Alkins’ recent performance against Kentucky signee Charles Matthews.
In that Dec. 6 game against Chicago (IL) St. Rita, Alkins went for 28 points, including 4-of-6 from 3-point range, in an 87-56 rout at the Chicago Elite Classic.
Asked if he hopes to get a Kentucky offer, Alkins said, “Every offer is a blessing so it wouldn’t hurt with a Kentucky offer.”
A New York native, Rohrssen has strong ties with many New York and New Jersey coaches, as we reported here. He also recently helped land 2015 Roselle (N.J.) Catholic point guard Isaiah Briscoe.
Villanova and Indiana watched on Tuesday as Alkins went for 26 points, 8 rebounds, 5 blocks, 5 assists and 4 steals in a 74-57 win over All Hallows.
Indiana head coach Tom Crean was also in to see Alkins last week before the Hoosiers played in the Jimmy V Classic.
Alkins holds offers from Kansas, Louisville, Indiana, Miami (FL), Minnesota, N.C. State, South Florida, Seton Hall, Villanova, Cincinnati, Rutgers, Louisville, and Providence.
