  • Recruiting Roundup: Kyle Alexander, Brandon Ingram, Isaiah Washington (UPDATED)

    Share Zagsblog Share Zagsblog
Kyle AlexanderDuke, Texas, Pittsburgh and Michigan State are all checking in on Kyle Alexander, a 6-foot-10 2015 forward from Orangeville Prep in Ontario.

Duke assistant Nate James called head coach Larry Blunt on Friday, and Pitt and Texas have checked in in recent days. Michigan State invited him for a visit, but no visit dates are set.

“He’s 6-10 with a 7-4 wingspan,” Blunt told SNY.tv. “He runs faster than our guards and has a knack for blocking shots. His dad was a Division 1 1,000-point scorer and his sister was an All-American at Syracuse and a first-round draft pick in the WNBA. The kid has been playing basketball for three years and his potential is scary.”

Due to a wrist injury, Alexander did not make the trip South when Orangeville played last weekend in Washington, D.C., New York and Springfield, Mass., but he normally plays alongside Orangeville Prep stars Thon Maker and Jamal Murray, both of whom are mulling reclassing to 2015 from 2016.

    DUKE TO WATCH INGRAM

Speaking of Duke, James will watch 2015 forward Brandon Ingram Friday night, according to his dad.

The 6-9 Ingram is considering Duke, North Carolina, N.C. State, Kansas, Kentucky and UCLA.

    ST. RAY’S WASHINGTON DRAWING INTEREST

Isaiah Washington, a 6-foot 2017 point guard from St. Raymond’s in The Bronx, has offers from Providence and Minnesota and interest from Indiana, Miami, South Florida and St. John’s. Washington went for 10 points and 6 assists Saturday when St. Ray’s beat St. John’s, 82-73, at the Big Apple Basketball Invitational. “I’ll be an uptempo guard and just get everybody involved,” he said. Said head coach Jorge Lopez, “I think he’s definitely a high-major point guard.

Seton Hall, Hofstra, Manhattan and Fordham have also offered Cahiem Brown, a high-scoring 6-3 junior guard from St. Ray’s. USF and Cincinnati have shown interest.

“He’s a scorer but he can also play the point,” Lopez said. “If they need him to be that point at that next level, he can actually facilitate.”

    TRACI CARTER DRAWING CONTINUED INTEREST

UMass, Marquette, N.C. State, Seton Hall, Xavier all called recently on uncommitted 2015 Burlington (N.J.) Life Center point guard Traci Carter.
