Tyus Battle, one of the top recruits in the Class of 2016 out of Gladstone (N.J.) Gill St. Bernard’s, could make his college decision by June.
“I’d like to see him get this over with by June,” Gary Battle, the player’s father, told Syracuse.com. “Tyus is undecided on that.”
The 6-foot-6 Battle is coming off back-to-back official visits to Duke and Louisville, where he had dinner at home with both Mike Krzyzewski and Rick Pitino, according to Syracuse.com. Battle also had an in-home visit Wednesday night with Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim and assistant coach Mike Hopkins.
“It went really well,” Gary told Syracuse.com. “We’ve had a few years of a relationship that started back in Tyus’ freshman year at the Elite Camp. We’ve gotten to know Coach Hop first, then Coach Boeheim. They’ve been consistent with what they’ve been talking about.”
Duke recently landed Battle’s close friend Derryck Thornton, who reclassed to 2015 and will play point for the Blue Devils next season. Battle and Thornton have often talked about potentially playing together in college.
Louisville just added two graduate transfers in Trey Lewis and Damion Lee, but they will be gone by the time Battle gets to college.
Battle is also considering Kentucky, UConn, Michigan, Notre Dame and Ohio State.
He will visit Michigan on an official May 8, Gary Battle confirmed to SNY.tv, and is planning an official visit to Syracuse next month as well.
He will then choose from among Kentucky, UConn or Ohio State for his final official, according to Syracuse.com.
