VCU coach Will Wade picked up a key addition on Saturday when De’Riante Jenkins committed.
Jenkins cited “the relationship me and coach Wade have. We text every day since he started recruiting me.
“Including my official visit and since the live period started I’ve seen him 4- times,” he added. “They really made me a priority.”
A 6-foot-6 small forward from Hargrave Military (VA) Academy, he is ranked the No. 11 small forward in the Class of 2016 by 247Sports.com. He also considered Tennessee, Rutgers and Clemson, among others. He is the Rams’ first pledge in 2016.
“I fit the playing style perfectly and I’ll get chances to play 1-3,” he said.
“Not only is De’Riante a very good player but he’s an even better person,” Hargrave coach A.W. Hamilton said. “He is a phenomenal teammate and person and has really improved his shooting ability. The sky is the limit for De’Riante.”
