B9HFTyXCYAElsaCRhode Island coach Dan Hurley continued his recruiting roll on Sunday.

The Rams landed a verbal pledge from Jeff Dowtin, a 6-foot-3, 185-pound combo guard from Washington, DC St. John’s College.

“The team has such a family atmosphere,” he told SNY.tv, adding that he also considered George Mason and Wichita State. “They are like one big group of brothers who have each other’s back. And they have so much chemistry which is key to winning.

“The coaching staff is great and they know what it takes to succeed. For me, I am bringing in a hard-working player who wants to compete. Someone who can help lead a team to championships because that’s the goal. Someone who stays in the gym 24/7 and that’s how all the players at Rhode Island are.”

Dowtin is Rhode Island’s fourth commit in 15 days.

Rhode Island also added 6-8 power forward Cyril Langevine, 6-9 power forward Mike Layssard, Jr. and 6-10 center Michael Tertsea.
