Arnaldo Toro, a 6-foot-9 2016 power forward from St. Benedict’s Prep, enjoyed his official visit to Kansas State over the weekend.
“It was good, their facilities were tough,” he said. “That’s the biggest thing I like.
“Their team is always about family and they’re always together. They treat my family with respect.”
Kansas State over the weekend also got a commitment from 6-10 American Heritage (FL) power forward James Love.
Toro, a native of Puerto Rico, is down to George Washington, St. Joe’s and Kansas State and has now visited all three schools. He will head back to GW this coming weekend for an unofficial visit.
“I’m going to GW on Thursday to watch a practice because on my official I didn’t get a chance to,” he said. “And on Saturday they have a scrimmage so I’ll be able to watch that as well.”
Indiana has also expressed interest but Toro is not considering them.
“I told Indiana that I was gonna commit early and I didn’t have any time for another visit but I thank them,” he said.In 20 games this spring and summer with the Albany City Rocks on the Nike EYBL circuit, he averaged 6.6 points and 5.7 rebounds. “He’s the ultimate teammate,” City Rocks director Jim Hart said. “Any coach is going to love him. He’s a warrior on the boards, brings his lunch pail every day. His upside is great because he has a high basketball IQ and such a natural nose for the ball. “Playing for [St. Benedict’s coach] Mark Taylor you know he has been coached and pushed. He’s an elite offensive rebounder who runs the floor tirelessly and excels at transition putbacks. Good footwork in the post and can knock down jumpers out to the 3-point line. Everyone in the City Rock organization loved him.”
