Harvey had a home visit Monday night with Notre Dame coach Mike Brey and his entire staff that his father, Darren, said was “great.” Brey is a DeMatha alumnus and a former assistant coach at the school. Harvey also recently Alabama and considered others including Louisville, Texas and UConn, among others. DARON RUSSELL POISED TO ANNOUNCE Daron “Fatts” Russell, the 5-10 point guard from Imhotep Institute in Philadelphia, will announce his college choice at 6 p.m. on Tuesday (today). Russell is expected to choose from among Rhode Island, La Salle, Grand Canyon and Seton Hall. He also considered Western Kentucky and SMU. He visited Grand Canyon this past weekend and has also tripped to Western Kentucky, Rhode Island and La Salle. DEVONTAE SHULER ENJOYS SOUTH CAROLINA Devontae Shuler, the 6-3 shooting guard from Oak Hill Academy (VA), enjoyed his official to South Carolina this past weekend. “The USC visit went very well,” his sister, Donnella Shuler, said. “Frank Martin is a great coach and an even better person. His message [to Devontae] was about learning to grow into a man. We learned a lot about how the Gamecocks operate day-to-day.” Shuler next visits Oklahoma State this coming weekend and then Ole Miss Oct. 7. MARCUS SANTOS-SILVA DOWN TO TWO Marcus Santos-Silva, a 6-7, 260-pound power forward from Vermont Academy, has cut his list to Temple and VCU and has visited both. He is expected to decide soon, per coach Alex Popp. “Marcus is 6-7, 260 with a 7-foot wingspan and a nose for the basketball,” Popp said. “He has soft hands and impressive footwork. Because of his ability to rebound the basketball, he will be an impact player at Temple or VCU. He’s probably the second best rebounder to ever wear Vermont Academy black and orange, the first being Tyrique Jones (who plays at Xavier). Marcus still has his senior season to change that opinion, though.” NOJEL EASTERN TO VISIT MICHIGAN STATE Nojel Eastern, the 6-6 wing from Evanston (IL) Township, will take an official visit to Michigan State this weekend and may also visit Seton Hall early next month. Eastern is also considering Ohio State, Purdue, Northwestern and DePaul. “My focus right now is on school, we’re just trying to go through the process right now,” said his mother, Tamala Reed.
