The 3rd Annual Boost Mobile Elite 24 event is slated for Aug. 22 at Rucker Park, and this year’s event is loaded with players from New York, New Jersey and Philly.
The White Squad (The Goat) features Lance Stephenson of Brooklyn Lincoln; Dexter Strickland and Michael Gilchrist of St. Patrick of Elizabeth, N.J.; Texas commit Tristan Thompson of St. Benedict’s Prep; Durand Scott of Rice, who recently enjoyed a visit to UConn; and Villanova commit Maalik Wayns of Philly Roman Catholic.
The Blue Squad (Skip to My Lou) includes St. Anthony’s Dominic Cheek; Doron Lamb of Oak Hill, who recently transferred from Bishop Loughlin; Seton Hall target Karron Johnson of Mount Zion Christian Academy; and John Wall, the No. 1 player in the Class of 2009 who may or may not be headed to Baylor.
Four players from the Class of 2009 have made verbal commitments to college: Erik Murphy to Florida, Jereme Richmond to Illinois, Maalik Wayns to Villanova and Dexter Strickland to North Carolina. Two from the Class of 2010 have also committed: Jared Sullinger to Ohio State University and Tristan Thompson to the University of Texas.
The game features the top 24 players from around the nation, regardless of sneaker affiliation. Admission is free. The game will be televised by ESPN at some point down the road.
