Nicolas Claxton, 6-foot-9 small forward from Greenville (S.C.) Legacy Charter, committed to Georgia on Monday.
He also considered Florida State, Maryland, Baylor and South Carolina.
“That is where I felt the most comfortable, and I felt that Coach [Mark] Fox and his staff would put me in a situation to succeed,”
Claxton told Dawgs247. “I felt something in my heart about a week ago. It came down to style of play. Distance wasn’t a factor. It was where I felt most comfortable with the players and the staff. It was where I saw myself getting to the League.”
Claxton, whose father Charles played center at Georgia from 1991-95, joins power forward
Rayshaun Hammonds in Georgia’s 2017 class.
“I’m going to try to play as hard as I can, be versatile, and help the team win in any way that I can,” Claxton said, per Dawgs247. “The top three things I do right now are: shoot the ball well, my versatility, and rebounding the ball. The things I need to work on over the next year are adding strength and improve the consistency of shooting the ball.
“Away from the court, I’d like people to know that I love to be around my family and that I love basketball. I just want to keep getting better at it.”
