Oklahoma senior guard Jordan Woodard suffered a torn ACL during Saturday’s game against Iowa State.
Woodard started for three straight NCAA tournament teams in Norman, including last year’s squad that made it to the Final Four. He will undergo surgery and miss the remainder of the season.
The veteran leads the team in scoring and steals per game, at 14.6 points and 1.9 swipes a contest. Both marks were career highs for Woodard.
A staple of the Sooner program the last four seasons, Woodard competed in 125 games, registering 124 starts since arriving in Oklahoma.
“We are so grateful for Jordan and what he has brought to our program the past four seasons,” head coach Lon Gruger said in a statement. “The work ethic, determination and dedication he has displayed throughout his career have been key factors to our success and growth as a team. It is unfortunate to lose him for the conclusion of the season and his collegiate career. We will continue to support Jordan and use our resources to aid him in the recovery process.”
The Sooners will look to move on without Woodard as they are set to face Texas Feb. 14 at 9 p.m. Currently, Gruger and Oklahoma sit at 8-16 on the year, and 2-10 in conference play, good for 10th place in the Big 12.
