  • Kentucky’s De’Aaron Fox to Work Out for Suns, Sixers, Lakers

    Share Zagsblog Share Zagsblog
Former Kentucky guard De’Aaron Fox worked out with Sacramento on Monday and is slated to work out for the Phoenix Suns later in the week, and the Lakers and Philadelphia Sixers next week, per NBA.com.

The Lakers pick at No. 2, the Sixers at No. 3, the Suns at No. 4 and the Kings at No. 5.

DraftExpress.com currently projects the 6-foot-3 Fox to go to Phoenix.

The Sixers, meantime, are considering “six or seven names…who we would really be happy with,” President Bryan Colangelo said Monday per NBA.com.

“We’ve done a lot of scouting over the last few weeks, following up and confirming some of the thoughts and impressions we’ve had over a much bigger body of work,” Colangelo said. “This is the chance to bring guys in, and talk to them for the first time, in some cases.”

Like all executives at this time of year, Colangelo is listening to trade offers, too.

“I think there’s a number of things that we’ve listened to and heard in terms of interest about our pick,” Colangelo said Monday. “It’s the time of year that you have to explore everything – we’re going to look at all options. It doesn’t mean we’re going to do something with the pick, but I have to listen, and also seek out what kind of value number three has.”

The lightning-quick Fox has drawn comparisons to former Kentucky star John Wall, a former No. 1 pick. Fox met at the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago in May with eight teams, including the Lakers, 76ers and Knicks.

Fox averaged 16.7 points, 4.6 assists and 4.0 rebounds in his lone season at Kentucky.

Fox showed he can perform in a big spot when he went off for 39 points and outplayed UCLA’s Lonzo Ball to propel Kentucky into the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.

“Some people talked about, talked about that dog I have,” Fox said. “I’m extremely competitive, I came out hot. We all know what was said, it gave the entire team fuel.

“I feel like I’m the best.”
