PHILADELPHIADevon Dotson was perhaps the most impressive player this week at the Under Armour All-America Camp.

“He was the best player I saw at camp,” said Northfield Mount Hermon coach John Carroll, who coached Dotson this week. “He was terrific. I heard some people say his shot-making from three and the perimeter were areas he need to improve, but he drilled all kinds of perimeter shots all camp. Great tempo and smart.”

The No. 6-ranked point guard in the Class of 2018 per 247Sports.com, Dotson is setting up official visits to Arizona, Kansas and Florida but is still working with a list of eight schools: Arizona, Florida, Kansas, Maryland, Miami, Wake Forest, USC and Ohio State.

“I just try to play my game but I notice all the coaches,” the 6-foot-2 point guard from Providence (N.C.) Country Day said. “I have a top eight but all the schools are doing a pretty good job.”

He broke down several of his schools this week:

Kansas: “Kansas, the style of play, I think it fits mine. They said they need a guard to come in and lead from Day One and they think I can be the guy.”

Florida: “They’ve been contacting me for a long time, they always made me a priority. They need a point guard in this class.”

Arizona: “Coach Sean Miller is doing a good job of talking to my parents and talking to myself. I haven’t visited there but I’ve heard great things about the program.”

Ohio State: “New coaching staff, they’re looking to turn things around and I think it’s a good program.”

Maryland: “My teammate Aaron Wiggins committed there. Coach [Mark] Turgeon’s been talking to me a lot and recruiting me a lot. I could see myself fittin gin there.”

Miami: “Coach [Jim] Larranaga calling me, texting me, making me a priority. I think I could go in there and lead from Day One there, too.”

Dotson said he plans to narrow his list “after the live period” and hopes to decide in the fall.

“I think fall,” he said, “but you never know.”
