Louis King, the 6-foot-8 small forward from Hudson (N.J.) Catholic and Team Final, has cut his list to five from eight.
King now lists Oregon, N.C. State, Seton Hall, Kansas and Purdue. He cut UConn, Syracuse and Maryland from his previous list of eight.
King has taken only one official visit — to Oregon this past weekend — and he is set to have a home visit Thursday with Ducks head coach Dana Altman and assistant Mike Mennenga.
“The campus was mind-blowing,” his mother, Ativea King, previously told ZAGSBLOG. “Their message was to come in and be a key piece to what they are wanting to accomplish.”
King was one of several high school players selected this summer to the U.S. U19 team that won a bronze medal under Kentucky coach John Calipari at the FIBA U19 World Championships in Cairo, Egypt. He averaged 6.1 points and 4.4 rebounds in seven games.
“He has an unique ability to be a team’s best defender, best facilitator or best scorer,” Team Final coach Aaron Burt said of King. “His versatility and skill set is of a Scottie Pippen-type. He loves to compete and wants to be great. He’s growing from a great role player and he’s transitioning to be a really good go to guy. He loves to win so he’s always ready to play.
King’s Hudson Catholic teammate Jahvon Quinerly committed to Arizona in August, while Hudson Catholic shooting guard Luther Muhammad is considering Ohio State, St. John’s, Virginia, West Virginia and Xavier. He is slated to visit Xavier this coming weekend.
