Andrew Nembhard Commits to Florida

Andrew Nembhard, the 6-foot-4 point guard from Montverde (FL) Academy, announced to Florida on Monday via Twitter. Nembhard’s commitment comes after his third official visit to Florida this past weekend (Sept. 30).

“First, I would like to show my appreciation to all the schools that took the time to recruit me,” said Nembhard in a statement released via Twitter. ““I’d like to thank Coach Boyle, Coach Gus, Coach Gad, Coach Marvin, Coach Nate, and all the people who took their time in developing me into becoming the player I am today.”

Nembhard, who cut his list to four last month, chose over Florida over Gonzaga, Ohio State, and USC. He took official visits to Ohio State (Sept. 15) and USC (Sept. 23). He had planned to visit Gonzaga (Oct. 7) for an official later this month but it has been canceled.

“I’d also like to give thanks to my parents, brother and rest of my family for pushing me every day, supporting me, and sacrificing a lot to get me to where I am today, both on and off the court,” said Nembhard. “Finally, I am grateful and excited to announce my commitment to the University of Florida! #GoGators ??” 

According to 247Sports, Nembhard is ranked as the No. 28 overall player in the Class of 2018 and the No. 7 ranked point guard in the class. He is the first commit in the Gators 2018 class. Nembhard reclassified from the Class of 2019 in July.

“Andrew’s upside is NBA starting guard,” UPlay Canada coach Dwayne Washington previously told ZAGSBLOG. “He’s way ahead of where Dennis Schroder is. He already shoots it better. He’s a legit 6-4 and defends the position.

Montverde coach Kevin Boyle says Nembhard will eventually be a first-round pick.

“He’s a great player and person,” he said. “Andrew will be a four-year starter and will be mid-to-late 1st round pick. He makes every player and person he touches better.”

Florida target Noah Locke will be making his college decision on Tuesday. Locke is coming off an official visit to Florida this past weekend (Sept. 30).
