Luke Anderson, the 6-foot-7 forward from Lakeland (FL), told ZAGSBLOG on Tuesday that Xavier and Iowa State are the two schools making him a priority at this stage in his recruitment. He broke down both programs:

Xavier: “It was awesome. My family is from that area and I visited their facilities and it was pretty cool. It was packed house over Christmas break so there were a lot of fans supporting when I went on my unofficial visit which is pretty cool to see. Especially when they were playing against DePaul, who is at the bottom of the conference and there were still a lot of people there.”

Iowa State: “There style of a play is a pro system which is good if you’re trying to go pro. They’re having a down year this year because they lost three good players but in the next couple of years they’ll be pretty good. I like their coaches. They text me a lot and I’ll probably take my first official visit to Ames. They’re one of the top schools in attendance so it’s pretty cool.”

Along with these two, Notre Dame and Oklahoma State have expressed recent interest, and the Irish are supposed to see Anderson play on the 23rd or 24th. Anderson also holds offers from Dayton, Ole Miss, and Kansas State, among others.

“I want a school that’s going to develop me into the next level after college,” Anderson said of what he’s looking for in a school. “I want to have coaches that will back me in how I want to play and put me in the best situation for me to strive. I want to be in a system where they can make me the best player I can be at the next level. Academics are very good in the long run but I want to be a pro whether it’s overseas or in the NBA. A pro is a pro.”

Still only a junior, Anderson has passed his SAT so he may take an official visit or two after the season depending on what schools are on him. He plans on using all five of his official visits.

Anderson will run with Team Knight this spring on the Adidas Circuit.

As for a decision date, Anderson said, “It will probably be September because I’ll mostly have all the offers I need to make my choice.”

According to Rivals, Anderson is a three-star prospect and the No. 135 player in the 2019 class.
