Yuat Alok, the 6-foot-10 center from Chipola (FL) College, verbally committed to TCU on Sunday, as first reported by 247Sports.
“I just committed to TCU,” Alok told 247Sports on Sunday. “I had a good relationship with David Patrick and also Jamie Dixon. It was a good fit for me to go there, knowing that I’m a junior college kid that has two years. I can go there and showcase my talent.
Alok took his official visit to TCU in late December. He also took official visits to Arizona State, Baylor, LSU and USC.
“It was hard because it was between them and Baylor,” Alok said. “Even last night I couldn’t sleep. I just kind of thought about it and the relationships I had with the coaches, that’s when I felt it was the place for me to go.”
According to JUCORecruiting, Alok is ranked as the No. 1 JUCO prospect in the nation. Through 18 games this season at Chipola College, Alok is averaging 12.4 points and 6.9 rebounds a game, while shooting 44-percent from three.
“I bring versatility,” he said. “I play inside and outside. I have a lot of strengths. I’m just versatile. I can do a little bit of everything. I’m long and can protect the rim and I shoot the three pretty good and I play down low.”
Originally from New Zealand, Alok played at Impact (GA) Academy his final year of high school before heading off to Chipola. He joins Kaden Archie, Kendric Davis, and Russell Barlow as the fourth commit in the Horned Frogs’ 2018 class.
