USC junior forward Bennie Boatwright will miss the rest of the 2018 season after suffering a patella injury during the Trojans’ victory over Oregon on Feb. 15, the school announced on Friday. The injury won’t require surgery.
“It’s just a shame when injuries happen to such hard workers and outstanding young men like Bennie,” said USC head coach Andy Enfield in a release. “Bennie has been such a valuable part of our program and he was having another very good year, being a factor on offense and defense. As we enter our stretch drive this season, we’ll miss having him, but we’ll be there to support him in his recovery every step of the way.”
Boatwright was the second leading scorer and rebounder averaging 13.6 points and 6.4 rebounds.
The Trojans are 18-9 (9-5 PAC-12) and are a No. 12 seed and First Four In team in ESPN Joe Lunardi’s latest bracketology.
