  • Ohio State’s Bates-Diop and Holtmann, Michigan State’s Jackson receive Big Ten awards

    Ohio State’s Keita Bates-Diop was named Big Ten Player of the Year by conference coaches and media, while Buckeyes coach Chris Holtmann was named Coach of the Year.

    After being picked 11th in the conference, Buckeyes finished second and will be the No. 2 seed when the Big Ten Tournament begins Wednesday in New York. 

    Holtmann has now won Big East Coach of the Year and Big Ten Coach of the Year honors in back-to-back seasons.

    Michigan State freshman Jaren Jackson, a projected NBA lottery pick, was named Freshman of the Year by conference coaches and media and Defensive Player of the Year by conference coaches.

    Michigan’s Duncan Robinson was named Sixth Man of the Year by conference coaches.
