  • Tennessee’s Grant Williams named SEC Player of the Year, Collin Sexton and Kevin Knox Co-Freshmen of the Year

    Tennessee sophomore forward Grant Williams was named SEC Player of the Year on Tuesday, while Alabama’s Collin Sexton and Kentucky’s Kevin Knox were named Co-Freshmen of the year.

    Williams, who was also named to the All-SEC first team, is Tennessee’s leading scorer this season, averaging 15.3 points per game while starting all 30 regular-season games. Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes was named SEC Coach of the Year after leading the Vols to a 23-7 record (13-5 SEC) and a share of the SEC Regular Season Title.

    In addition to his Co-Freshmen of the Year honor, Knox was named to the All-SEC First Team, while Sexton was named to the All-SEC Second Team.

    Through 31 games this season, Knox has averaged 15.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game, while leading Kentucky in scoring. In 28 games this season, Sexton has averaged 18.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game, leading the Crimson Tide in scoring.
