Aidan Igiehon, the 6-foot-10 center from Lawrence Woodmere (NY) Academy and Team Rio, has cut his list to four schools.
Igiehon is down Kentucky, Louisville, Oregon and St. John’s. Igiehon said Kentucky has offered him a scholarship.
He cut Georgetown, Vanderbilt, Florida, Georgia, Stanford and Pittsburgh from his previous list of 10.
He broke down all four for Pat Lawless of PrepCircuit.com:
Kentucky: “Kentucky is an interesting one. Coach [Tony] Barbee has told me that they want to get me to the next level. They think that if I’m willing to do what it takes, Kentucky is the best place for me. It’s a great fit for me and they have a great track record with big men. I’m trying to go the NBA and they think it would be a great fit if I were to commit there. They want me to trust what they can do in the process.”
Louisville: “Coach [Chris] Mack and Coach [Luke] Murray have been recruiting me since I was at Xavier. I know Coach Mack is a great coach with what he did in his time at Xavier. He did that with the right players and not just recruiting the highest rated players in the nation. That means that guys are getting better and I’m excited to see what he can do with the program at Louisville.”
Oregon: “Oregon is going to push me and they have a good program. The style of play in the Pac-12 is an up and down style, which suits very well with my game. Coach [Dana] Altman, Coach [Mike] Mennenga and Coach McKenna have been very consistent with me. They want to push me and do different things on the court. They want to keep developing me the way I have been these past five years.”
St. John’s: “They have been recruiting me since I was fifteen years old. They were after me when I was early in my development so they have seen potential in me. For three years I have built a good relationship with Chris [Chris] Mullin and Coach Matt [Abdelmassih]. The main thing for me is being in New York once again for college. Chris Mullin has some great connections to the NBA and he played with and against great big men. He knows what I need to do to get to the NBA. He played in the league for a long time and has done it at the highest level. That has played a big part and also I get the chance to stay at home and play in front of my family.”
According to 247Sports, Igiehon is ranked as the No. 24 overall player in the Class of 2019 and the No. 2 player from the state of New York.
