Kofi Cockburn, the 6-foot-10 center from Oak Hill (VA) Academy and the NY Rens, has cut his list to eight schools and is planning his official visits.

Cockburn is down to Syracuse, Kansas, Pittsburgh, Illinois, UConn, LSU, Florida State and St. John’s. The news was first reported by Andrew Slater and confirmed by Karriem Memminger, Cockburn’s AAU coach.

Cockburn is in the process of setting up his official visits and none are set yet.

“I want to go to a school where I’m able to go in, get better, and show my talent as a player and a person,” he said this summer.

Cockburn is looking forward to playing with new Oak Hill teammate Cole Anthony.

“It’s been good playing with Cole,” said Cockburn. “He’s a great point guard and he gets the job done at the end of the day. I’m looking forward to playing with him.”
