Trendon Watford remains uncommitted but hopes to make a decision by May 15, the end of the NCAA late signing period, his father told ZAGSBLOG Tuesday. “I think we’re going to try to get it done by then,” Ernest Watford said Tuesday by phone. The 6-foot-8 forward out of Mountain Brook (AL) Watford is still considering Alabama, LSU, Indiana and Memphis, and Ernest remains in touch with all four schools. Trendon had initially planned to announce at the Jordan Brand Classic April 20, but that plan was scrapped when the game wasn’t on TV. “I think we’re just sorting of waiting to see how the rosters shake out,” Ernest said. “I think that’s what my oldest son [Christian Watford] is sort of into that. What’s the roster fit? “LSU got guys in the [NBA] Draft], Memphis got guys that they’re out [recruiting] on. We’re trying to feel good on a set roster going in.” Memphis remains in the mix for numerous uncommitted players, including Watford, Precious Achiuwa, Lester Quinones and R.J. Hampton. The 6-5 Quinones is down to Indiana and Memphis and will announce Friday. “I’m sure they’re trying to see what fits Lester the best, and we’re trying to see what fits Trendon moving forward the best,” Ernest said. He added: “You got uncertainty on every roster. Alabama’s roster is pretty set, and Indiana is still out on a few guys that they’re trying to get.” According to 247sports, Watford is ranked No. 27 nationally and is the No. 5 power forward and has played well in recent all-star games. He also won three straight state titles at Mountain Brook. “We’ve got some good feedback from these last two all-star games, we want to ride the momentum. We want to make sure we don’t derail it or kill it.”
