A strong season of recruiting for Memphis coach Penny Hardaway got even better on Saturday when Little Rock graduate transfer forward Rayjon Tucker announced on Twitter he will transfer to Memphis.
“I want to thank everyone that recruited me through the process, but I will be attending the University of Memphis next year,” Tucker said in his tweet.
The 6-foot-5 Tucker averaged 20.3 points and 6.7 rebounds last year and was ranked by ESPN as the No. 2 graduate transfer for the 2019-20 season.
Tucker previously declared for the 2019 NBA Draft and followed his transfer decision with a series of tweets clarifying that the NBA is still his main focus.
“Not pulling my name out the draft for everyone that’s wondering,” Tucker tweeted. “NBA first, college if NBA doesn’t work out.”
If Tucker ends up playing for the Tigers, he will join the No. 8 recruiting class, according to ESPN. Headlined by No. 1 overall recruit James Wiseman, Memphis has a loaded class with four ESPN top-100 recruits.
The latest commitment the Tigers received was from No. 81 prospect Lester Quinones, a 6-foot-4 guard from IMG Academy who committed to the Tigers on Friday.
In addition to a top-10 recruiting class and talented graduate transfer, on Thursday Memphis hosted ESPN’s No. 38 recruit, Boogie Ellis, who received his release from Duke earlier this month.
