Jabri Abdur-Rahim to Virginia

Jabri Abdur-Rahim, the 6-foot-7 wing from Blair (N.J.) Academy, committed to reigning NCAA champion Virginia on Wednesday following his recent official visit to the school.

“I really enjoyed myself,” he said after the visit. “They made it clear I was a priority.”

He also considered Michigan, while UConn, Notre Dame and Louisville had also been involved.

“Coach [Tony] Bennett has been on me pretty hard throughout this whole process,” he said last week at Blair

Ranked No. 28 in the Class of 2020 by ESPN.com, Abdur-Rahim is the son of of former NBA standout and current G League President Shareef Abdur-Rahim.

“First of all, Jabri has proven to be a great teammate and community member,” Blair coach Joe Mantegna said. “I have really enjoyed coaching him. On the court, he is a highly skilled three-level scorer. He is trending upward in every facet of the game and approaches his improvement with an impressive growth mindset. That said with added strength, and a few more years of experience, the sky is the limit on terms of his potential.”

Abdur-Rahim joins point guard Reece Beekman and shooting guard Carson McCorkle in Virginia’s 2020 class.
