“I would say that the few reasons that I chose Michigan would be the culture of basketball and how they have always been known to have success on and off the court,” Tschetter told ZAGSBLOG Monday via text.
Tschetter chose Michigan over schools such as Appalachian State, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Colorado State, Iowa, Loyola Chicago, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota State, Northern Iowa, Richmond, South Dakota, Toledo and Virginia Tech, among others.
“I feel like Coach [Juwan] Howard has established a trusting relationship from day one that I met him,” Tschetter said. “That not only goes for him, but for the whole staff. They were just very genuine and humble people through the recruiting process!”
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Tschetter was unable to take an official visit to Michigan. However, he did take an unofficial visit to Michigan this past weekend (July 3-5).
“I walked around campus and Ann Arbor this weekend with my mom,” Tschetter said. “I really like. how the town is kind of incorporated into the campus. It gives it a great feel.”
He joins four-star forward Isaiah Barnes as the second commit in Michigan’s 2021 class. Tschetter says that he’s been in touch with Barnes.
“I’ve talked to him a little bit, seems like a great guy,” Tschetter said. “With my time at Michigan, I expect to build relationships with my teammates and be able to challenge myself in the classroom and on the court as well!”
During the 2019-20 season, Tschetter averaged 33.6 points, shooting 60 percent from the field and 45 percent from three-point range.
According to 247Sports.com, Tschetter is ranked as the No. 28 power forward and the No. 149 overall player in the Class of 2021.
