Arterio Morris, the 6-foot-3, 175-pound Class of 2022 point guard from Prolific Prep (CA), committed to Memphis on Tuesday.
According to 247Sports, Morris is ranked as the No. 6 combo guard and No. 28 overall player in the Class of 2022.
He had also recently added offers from Baylor, Texas and UCLA. Texas Tech, Oregon and Kansas had also been in frequent touch.
“Coach Cody [Toppert] has been talking to me a lot,” he said of the Memphis assistant before his commitment. “He’s been sending me game film and telling me how they slow the game down to play at a certain speed and players can to the bucket when they need to.”
Memphis’ 2022 recruiting class is now ranked No. 3 nationally behind Michigan State and Syracuse, per 247Sports.com.
“Terio is a great kid, he has developed real well the last few years,” said his trainer Tim Martin. “He played very well with the Dallas Showtyme AAU team and came on the scene real quick.”
Memphis last week also landed a pledge from potential one-and-done center Moussa Cisse, a native of Guinea who had spent his senior season at the Lausanne Collegiate School in Memphis.
While the coronavirus pandemic has put recruiting visits on hold, Morris had hoped to visit Memphis this fall.
Morris describes himself as a ‘very good shot blocker’ with a solid offensive game.
“I can shoot threes pretty well,” he said. “I can also get to the bucket.”
After spending last year at Kimball (TX), Morris will transfer to Prolific Prep (CA) for his sophomore year, he told ZAGSBLOG.
“They are good people,” he said. “They been in my ear since school let out.”
