N.D. Okafor, the 6-foot-9, 210-pound power forward from NBA Academy (MEXI) Latin America, says that Baylor and Arizona are the two schools recruiting him the hardest.
He broke both schools for ZAGSBLOG Thursday:
Baylor: “I really like the facilities and I love the way they play as a team. They also played very well this past season and are one of my favorite schools right now.”
Arizona: “I’ve built a little relationship with assistant coach Jack Murphy because he saw me when I was playing at a lower level. One thing I love about Arizona is all the NBA players they have developed. Also, I feel like they have one of the best coaches in the college system.”
Okafor also holds offers from Rutgers, Montana State and Robert Morris.
He broke down each school:
Rutgers: “They have had their eyes on me ever since I played in the Dallas Mavericks tournament. My coach let them know about me [and] I really think their program is well developed.”
Montana State: “The one thing I like is that they’ve told me they need a good big to impact their team and get minutes right away. I feel that I could make a big impact there.”
Robert Morris: “Robert Morris was the first school that offered me. They are a low-major school of course, but I was excited about the offer I appreciate them for offering me.”
Okafor is also receiving interest from Kansas State, Western Kentucky, Pittsburgh, Saint Mary’s, Creighton, Virginia Tech, and TCU, among others.
Okafor grew up in Ireland before playing his first year of high school basketball for Woodrow Wilson (TX) High School.
He transferred to NBA Academy Latin America last December.
Playing with Ireland during the 2019 FIBA U-16 European Championship, Okafor averaged 16.1 points and 14.3 rebounds.
