    NEWPORT, R.I. — Dave Wannstedt was sick to his stomach.

    Four years ago, in his coaching debut at his alma mater, Notre Dame hammered Pittsburgh, 42-21, in Pittsburgh.

    “It looked like men versus boys,” Wannstedt, 57, recalled of that 2005 meeting at the Big East media day on Tuesday. “We were midgets, you know. We couldn’t run fast enough. It was a sick feeling from a coach’s standpoint.”
