Thon Maker visited Kansas on Friday night and then played in front of Jayhawks head coach Bill Self and assistant Kurtis Townsend this weekend.
The 7-footer from Orangeville Prep in Ontario (Canada) sat behind the Kansas bench Friday for their home opener, a 109-72 win over Northern Colorado.
“Thon does want to do an official to Kansas,” his guardian, Ed Smith, told SNY.tv. “He was at their home opener unofficially.”
On Thursday, Maker listed Arizona State, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Notre Dame and St. John’s as the schools recruiting him the hardest.
Maker will choose a college in the spring and is also hoping to take official visits to Arizona State and Notre Dame, Smith told SNY.tv previously
“As the season goes on, that’s what we look forward to do,” Maker recently told SNY.tv. “Last year I got a chance to take a few visits on the road so I really want to do something like that again. I know I’ll definitely take a few, if not all my officials on the road also, but I don’t know any particular dates.”
Meantime, Maker on Sunday went for 29 points Sunday as Athlete Institute lost to Sunrise Christian 76-72 at the Tornado Alley Showcase in Wichita, KS.
Coaches from Texas A&M, Wichita State and elsewhere also watched.
