Tai Wynyard has signed his National Letter of Intent with Kentucky and expects to come to the United States from New Zealand “in about a month,” his mother told SNY.tv.
“All signed and done,” Karmyn Wynyard said via email. “NCAA Eligibility Center complete, just US student visa being processed now and he’s good to go. Should be heading over in about a month.”
The 6-foot-10, 265-pound New Zealand big man has previously said he will enroll at Kentucky in December and will play the second semester of this season. However, it’s possible he may redshirt this season.
“I’m sure I will be coming to UK in December to begin classes winter/spring semester,” Wynyard told VaughtsViews.com. “I’m looking forward to and excited about joining the program in December.”
Wynyard will join bigs Skal Labissiere, Isaac Humphries, Marcus Lee, Alex Poythress and Derek Willis up front.

“I’ve played with and against both [Jamal Murray and Humphries]. They are very talented players and I look forward to joining them in December,” Wynyard said.
Kentucky has the No. 1-ranked recruiting class in 2016 with guards Malik Monk and De’Aaron Fox and bigs Wenyen Gabriel, Sacha Killeya-Jones and Bam Adebayo. All of them have signed their NLIs.
