Gonzaga places trio on Wooden All-American Team, Illinois puts two
Gonzaga’s Corey Kispert, Jalen Suggs and Drew Timme have been named to the 2021 John R. Wooden Award All-American Team the Los Angeles Athletic Club announced Friday.
Gonzaga becomes the first school in the Award’s history to have three players named to the ten-man Wooden Award All American Team. Kispert was named a finalist for the 2021 John R. Wooden Award Men’s Player of the Year.
Illinois placed two on the list in Ayo Dosunmu and Kofi Cockburn, and Dosunmu is also a finalist, along with Oklahoma State’s Cade Cunningham, Baylor’s Jared Butler and Iowa’s Luka Garza.
The ten-player team also includes Hunter Dickinson (Michigan) and Evan Mobley (USC).
The 45ᵗʰ annual presentation of the John R. Wooden Award to the men’s and women’s most outstanding college basketball player will take place on SportsCenter on ESPN on April 6.

A contributor to The New York Times and SportsNet New York (SNY), he is also the author of two books and is an award-winning journalist and filmmaker. His articles have appeared in ESPN The Magazine, SLAM, Sheridan Hoops, Basketball Times and in newspapers nationwide. He also won an Emmy award for his work on the SNY mini-documentary on Syracuse guard Tyus Battle.
A veteran Ultimate Frisbee player, he has competed in numerous National and World Championships and, perhaps more importantly, his teams won the Westchester Summer League (WSL) championships in 2011 and 2013.
He lives in Manhattan with his wife and children.
