Rick Pitino has landed his next point guard.

Iona on Saturday landed a commitment from Tulsa graduate transfer Elijah Joiner, whose the Gaels over Illinois, TCU and Texas A&M.

“I felt that it was a great situation for me to play for a team who just won their conference and made it to the NCAA Tournament,” he said. “Coach Pitino’s resume speaks for itself and I’m excited to play for him and learn from him.”

The 6-foot-3 Joiner averaged 11.3 ppg, 4.2 rpg and 4.0 apg in 22 games last season for Tulsa.

Iona loses point guard Asante Gist from a team that won the MAAC Tournament and lost to Alabama in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
