Tre Donaldson, the 6-foot-2 Class of 2022 point guard from Florida State University School and the Nightrydas Elite EYBL program, committed to Auburn for basketball on Thursday.
A two-sport star who also is a safety in football, Donaldson also considered Florida State.
“I will be taking my talents to Auburn University,” he told ZAGSBLOG ahead of his public announcement, adding that he chose the Tigers because of “the relationship I have with the staff and their ability to believe in me when no one did.”
Donaldson is Auburn’s first 2022 commit. He said he’s also recruiting Jarace Walker, the 6-foot-8, 220-pound power forward from IMG (FL) Academy, and Zion Cruz, the 6-5 5-star shooting guard from The Patrick School (N.J.).
“He’s a great kid born leader and having him is like having a coach on the floor,” said Kenoe Jordan of Nightrydas Elite. “He will be a name that people talk about at the next level. It was a blessing to have a kid like Tre in our program . He is the ultimate competitor.”
