By ADAM ZAGORIASadiku Ibine Ayo , the 6-foot-5 wing from Our Savior Lutheran and the New Heights Lightning AAU program, committed to Iona Wednesday following an official visit last weekend.
“It felt like home and where I belong,” he said.
He also held offers from Seton Hall, St. John’s and Auburn, among others.
“Sadiku is the most unselfish and underrated player ever to come through our Lightning program,” said coach Shandue McNeil. “He’s one of the best 2-way players in the country.”
A strong, physical 2-way player, Ayo competed at the Peach Jam this summer, helping to lead the Lightning to the quarterfinals.

A veteran Ultimate Frisbee player, he has competed in numerous National and World Championships and, perhaps more importantly, his teams won the Westchester Summer League (WSL) championships in 2011 and 2013.
