Zach Keller, the nation’s No. 10 power forward in the class of 2022, has committed to Wake Forest, he tells ZAGSBLOG.
“I will be the fifth player from the state of Colorado to ever play in the ACC,” Keller said. “I didn’t know that until the coaches told me. I thought that was interesting. That’s pretty exciting to hear that.”
Keller, who cut his list to four last month, said his decision ultimately came down to Wake Forest and Utah.
“They both fit all my criteria of coaching staff, education, players, facilities and all of that,” he said. “In the end, it just came down to the gut feeling of where it felt like home. That’s how I decided.”
Keller took his official visit over the summer and has remained in contact with a number of the Wake Forest players.
“The players that I will be playing with actually reached out and texted me a lot,” he said. “They want me to go there. That was something that stood out and drew me towards them.”
The 6-foot-9, 200-pound power forward from ThunderRidge (CO), is a versatile forward that can play as a stretch three or four.
“I’m aggressive on both ends of the floor and never take plays off,” he said. “I have a high-motor. I will play as long as I can for as much as I can. I’m an overall aggressive player.”
As the first commit in Wake Forest’s 2022 recruiting class, Keller says he’s been texting with three-star Roselle (NJ) Catholic guard Jamarques Lawrence.
“That’s the high guy they’re on right now, so I’m trying my best to pull him over to Wake Forest,” Keller said.
