GG Jackson is headed to North Carolina.
The 6-foot-9 Jackson out Columbia (SC) Ridge View is ranked as the No. 8 overall prospect in the 2023 class and the No. 2 power forward. He chose the Tar Heels over Duke, UMass, Auburn, Georgetown and the NBA G-League.
“They have shown from the start that they want me the most,” Jackson told 247Sports.com of the Tar Heels. “They have also shown that I am a top priority for their program. That is really big to me. Just about every coach recruits me from there. I talk with Sean May a lot, definitely Hubert Davis, and Jeff Lebo. They say they will put me in the right spot to get me to the NBA. Also, the family atmosphere sticks out.”
Jackson is North Carolina’s second commit in 2023, following Roselle Catholic (NJ) and NY Rens point guard Simeon Wilcher, who last summer turned down a high-six-figure offer from Overtime Elite to remain in high school.
Jackson averaged 22.1 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 2 blocks per game last season.
This has been a big week for the Tar Heels who got the news that guards Caleb Love and R.J. Davis will run it back next season along with Armando Bacot and Leaky Black, the core of their national runner-up team.
