Saint Peter’s coach Bashir Mason continued to transform his roster Friday with the addition of Coppin State transfer and New Jersey native Kyle Cardaci.

The 6-foot-2 Holmdel, N.J. native averaged 7.9 points and 2.5 assists last season, and has made 118 3-point field goals in the last two seasons. He has two years of eligibility remaining. He also considered Binghamton.

“I picked St. Peter’s because I believed it was the best situation for me,” he said. “Coach Bashir Mason is a winning coach and has proved that. I created a good connection with coach Bash and coach Bobby Jordan. It’s close to home and the coaches are genuine about not only caring about their players on the court but also off the court.

“The skill set I will be bringing will be an experienced guard who can score/shoot the ball and defend.”

He joins Southern transfer Jayden Saddler and Bowling Green transfer Cam Young in Mason’s offseason acquisitions.

Saddler and Cardaci will join returning guards Juju Murray, Marty Silvera, and Isiah Dasher from a team that stunned No. 2 Kentucky, No. 7 Murray State and No. 3 Purdue before falling to eventual national runner-up North Carolina in the Elite 8.

Three Saint Peter’s guards have already transferred: Doug Edert to Bryant, Daryl Banks III to St. Bonaventure and, most recently, Matthew Lee to Missouri State.

Star forward KC Ndefo is also in the Transfer Portal and has declared for the NBA Draft.

The Peacocks will be honored Friday by Gov. Phil Murphy at the Governor’s Mansion.
