NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. — Set to announce his college decision on August 2, class of 2023 five-star forward Kwame Evans Jr. is deciding between Auburn, Kentucky, Arizona and Oregon.
The 6-foot-9, 200-pound power forward from Montverde (FL) Academy and the Team Durant AAU Program, broke down his four options for ZAGSBLOG Saturday:
Auburn: “The coaching staff, family and they just felt like family when I was up there. With how they would use me, I feel like I fit down there really.”
Kentucky: “Pedigree. They get guys like me to the league. That just fits me. (John) Calipari and them are all good guys.”
Arizona: “Tommy Lloyd and I are building a relationship. It’s been cool with him. I went on a visit and it’s a good fit as well.
Oregon: “Dana Altman is a cool guy, family guy. I know the coaching staff really well. It’s a really nice area.”
Ranked by 247Sports Composite as the No. 3 power forward and No. 8 overall prospect in the class of 2023, Evans broke down the deciding factors of his decision:
“Fit, play fit and where they can best help me get to the league,” he said. “That’s it, really.”
Evans helped lead Team Durant to the Final Four of Peach Jam 17U before falling to Team Takeover 58-44 on Saturday. He finished with 14 points, 11 rebounds and two assists in the loss.
“I left it all out there,” Evans said. “I think I played the best for my team and just in general, left it all out there just to try and get a win. Ultimately, what happened, happened.”
Describing his game, Evans said: “I do it all really. I can shoot off the catch. I can hit off the rebound and make the right play all the time. I’m just a team player.”
