    NEW YORK – So much for that Federer-Nadal U.S. Open final many tennis fans were anxiously awaiting.

    Juan Martin del Potro had other ideas.

    “I’m sorry,” No. 6 del Potro said with a sheepish smile during his on-court interview after he absolutely blistered an injured Rafael Nadal, 6-2, 6-2, 6-2, in the first U.S. Open men’s semifinal in Arthur Ashe Stadium. Nadal has been bothered by an abdominal strain since coming back to the tour at Montreal in August.
