St. Anthony forward Devon Collier is in the midst of a series of in-home visits and is considering half a dozen schools, including four from the Big East.

“The schools recruiting him right now are Seton Hall, St. John’s, Rutgers, Providence, Oregon State and Maryland,” said Adam Berkowitz of New Heights.

“Those are the schools that are recruiting him and continue to be recruiting him.”

The 6-foot-8 Collier visited Providence unofficially over the summer and had an in-home with head coach Keno Davis and assistant coach Pat Skerry this past weekend.

He also visited St. John’s earlier this month and then had head coach Norm Roberts into his home Monday.

“They were both very good,” Berkowitz said. “To me the goal of the home visits is to continue to build a relationship with him and his father [Red].”

Collier has also taken an unofficial to Seton Hall and will have Pirates coach Bobby Gonzalez in next week.

“We’re going to get Seton Hall in home next week. I don’t know what day yet. We’re still trying to figure that out,” Berkowitz said.

Oregon State head coach Craig Robinson, the brother-in-law of President Barack Obama, is coming to St. Anthony on Friday to see both Collier and the 6-7 Ashton Pankey.

Nick Blatchford of New Heights has a connection with Oregon State assistant Nate Pomeday and assistant Doug Stewart is a Haddonfield, N.J. native. The staff saw Collier play twice in Las Vegas this summer and became “intrigued,” Berkowitz said.

“We want to gauge how interested they are and how interested Devon would be in going so far away,” Berkowitz said.

Berkowitz said he’s still working with Maryland and Rutgers to do in-homes in the “next week or two.” Rutgers assistant Darren Savino is recruiting Collier.

    PITT’S DIXON OUT TWO MONTHS

Pittsburgh senior guard Jermaine Dixon reinjured his right foot and underwent successful bone graft surgery to correct a fifth metatarsal fracture Wednesday morning at UPMC South Side Hospital. Team physicians Dr. Freddie Fu and Dr. Robin West, along with Pitt Athletic Trainer Tony Salesi anticipate that Dixon will return to the court this year and is expected to be sidelined a minimum of eight weeks.

“We fully expect Jermaine to make a full recovery,” Pitt head coach Jamie Dixon said. “The surgery was a success and we know that Jermaine will work hard during the rehabilitation process.”

Dixon originally fractured the fifth metatarsal in his right foot in July.

He started all 36 contests for Pitt last year, averaged 8.4 points per game, hit 32 3-pointers, ranked second on the team with 51 steals and finished with a 2.00 assist:turnover ratio.
