Quinn Slazinski becomes third Iona player to transfer to St. John’s, Rick Pitino

Former Iona forward Quinn Slazinski has committed to Rick Pitino and St. John’s.
He becomes the third Iona player to transfer to the Johnnies, joining DanissJenkins and Cruz Davis.
“I’ve decided to continue my basketball career under the great Hall of Fame coach, Rick Pitino, at St. John’s University,” Slazinski told ZAGSBLOG. “With it being my last year, I had no choice but to trust my instincts and finish my career the way it should.”
The 6-foot-9 Houston native averaged 11.3 points on 42.6% shooting along with 5.7 rebounds last season under Pitino in just seven games. In January, Pitino announced Slazinski would have season-ending ankle surgery. Slazinski told ZAGSBLOG he was cleared “last week” after the surgery.
“With Rick Pitino‘s European offense, me being able to do a little bit of everything helps me thrive under a coach like him,” he said.
Slazinski said he plans to recruit fellow Houston native and Niagara transfer Noah Thomasson, who visits St. John’s April 25-26.
“I played on the same Little League basketball team as [Noah] Thomasson,” Slazinski continued. “And no better way to end it the way you started.”
