Mike Rhoades and Penn State have picked up its second transfer portal commitment in two days, securing former Georgetown center Qudus Wahab. Wahab announced his commitment via Instagram.
Wahab, the 6-foot-11, 245 pound big man from Lagos, Nigeria, started every game but one for Georgetown last season and averaged 7.7 points and 5.6 rebounds. He also shot 56% from the field and 68% from the free throw line.
Wahab began his career at Georgetown before transferring to Maryland for his junior season. After a one-year stint at Maryland, Wahab transferred back to Georgetown for the 2022-23 season.
Now, Wahab will be playing for his third team next season in the Nittany Lions as a graduate transfer.
Coming out of high school, Wahab was a four-star and ranked No. 124 overall by 247Sports in the class of 2019. Wahab is ranked as the No. 180 overall available transfer per Evan Miya.
Wahab will bring some much needed size to Penn State. Of the Nittany Lions eight current scholarship players for next season, Wahab is the tallest. He’s also one of two players 6-foot-10 or above.
Rhoades has now brought in five players from the transfer portal this offseason. This includes Wahab, former North Carolina forward Puff Johnson, former Temple forward Zach Hicks, and two of Rhoades’ former players at VCU in point guard Adrian Baldwin and forward Nick Kern.
