D.J. Rodman, the son of former NBA bad boy and five-time NBA champion Dennis Rodman, is transferring to USC and will play alongside Bronny James, Lebron James’s eldest son.
“All these ups and downs, lefts and rights led me to Fight On,” Rodman said in his announcement on Instagram.
The 6-foot-6 forward averaged 9.6 points and 5.8 rebounds in 31 games, 30 starts, for Washington State during the 2022-23 season. He was second among the Cougars with 180 rebounds. Rodman made 38.1 percent of his three-point attempts (51-for-134) and 79.2 percent of his free throws (61-for-77) last season. Rodman has career game highs of 23 points and 14 rebounds.
The Newport Beach, Calif. native spent four seasons at Washington State, after graduating from JSerra Catholic School in 2019. As a senior at JSerra, Rodman averaged 24.2 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. He played his first two high school seasons at Corona Del Mar High in Newport Beach, Calif.
Rodman’s sister Trinity was the No. 2 selection in the 2021 NWSL Draft by the Washington Spirit and also plays for the USA National Women’s Soccer Team.
Bronny James committed to USC on Saturday, ending a long and winding recruitment. He is expected to spend just one season at USC before joining his famous father in the NBA in 2024.
USC also signed 6-3 guard Isaiah Collier, the MVP of the 2022 Steph Curry Camp and th No. 1 point guard in the class, and 6-10 forward Arrinten Page from Wheeler High in Marietta, Ga., where he is teammates with Collier. The versatile forward Page is ranked as the No. 5 player in Georgia and as the No. 4 ranked power forward overall ESPN.com. He also is ranked No. 38 overall by ESPN.com.
