Recruiting Roundup: Boogie Fland, Qinfang Pang and more
By CHARLIE PARENTNEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The CHSAA showcase took place this weekend at Iona Prep, featuring a star studded group including five-star Boogie Fland, three-star Qinfang Pang and 2025 top-100 recruits Brandon Stores and Tai Turnage, among several others.
Each brokedown their recruitments to ZAGSBLOG:
**Fland, a five-star guard in the class of 2024 out of Stepinac (NY.), visited Indiana just over a week ago.
“I liked it, it was great,” Fland said. “Great coaching staff, the players too, it was all around a great visit.”
“They want me to come in and produce as a freshman,” he continued. “Do what I do and help produce a championship.”
Alabama head coach Nate Oates, Villanova head coach Kyle Neptune and assistants from UConn, Michigan, St. John’s, and several others were in attendance to see Fland and Archbishop Stepinac (NY.) take on St. Raymond’s (NY.).
**Pang, a three-star center in the class of 2024 out of Christ the King (NY.), mentioned he’s been most in contact with Michigan, Missouri, Rutgers, and Oregon.
He has previously visited Michigan and wants to get back on campus sometime soon.
“Michigan is a big time school,” he said. “I’d love to be there again and take an official visit.”
Pang has also seen Missouri and wants to get onto the Oregon campus sometime this summer.
**Steven Solano, a three-star center in the class of 2024 out of Cardinal Hayes (NY.), has mostly been in contact with Virginia Tech, Loyola Chicago, and Rhode Island.
“Virginia Tech, Loyola Chicago and I’ve been speaking a lot with Rhode Island,” he said. “Those are mainly my top schools right now.
He received an offer from St. John’s yesterday as well as Northern Illinois.
The 6-foot-11 rim runner plans to take visits after the summer and finalize his recruitment during his senior year.
7’0 Steve Solano, a class of 2024 C, from Cardinal Hayes HS, has picked up offers from St. John’s University & Northern Illinois.

**Jakai Sanders, a 6-foot-3 guard in the class of 2024 out of Bishop Loughlin (NY.), has been in contact with St. John’s, Rhode Island, Fordham and Northern Illinois, among others.
He recently heard from Seton Hall and Xavier.
Sanders said Rhode Island is currently coming after him the hardest after his visit last week.
“It was cool,” he said. “The coaches they really want me there. They told me how I fit in the program and what it’d be like if I were to go there.”
He will focus on taking more visits after Peach Jam.
**Braylan Ritvo, a 6-foot-8 wing in the class of 2024 out of Stepinac (NY.), has visited Brown, Quinnipiac, Lafayette, and Towson.
He mentioned Quinnipiac is recruiting him the hardest right now citing the coaching staff as the biggest appeal.
“They’re trying to make me feel like apart of their family already,” Ritvo said. “Very nice campus, very nice staff, and very nice facilities.”

**Jordan Gabriel, a 6-foot-8 forward in the class of 2024 out of Stepinac (NY.), has heard from Brown, Siena, Lafayette, and Boston University.
He took his first visit to Brown last week.
“I really liked it,” he said. “I liked the city vibe and Brown had that. I liked it a lot.”
He mentioned Brown and Siena are coming after him the hardest.
Gabriel will look to take more visits once the live periods die down.
**Brandon Stores, a top-50 player in the class of 2025 out of St. Raymond’s (NY.), holds offers and interest from Providence, Rutgers, Penn State, Xavier, Syracuse, Oklahoma State, and Seton Hall, among others.
The 6-foot-4 guard mentioned Providence, Rutgers, and Penn State have been in contact the most lately.
Syracuse was also in attendance for St. Raymond’s game on Friday.
He plans to go on visits after Peach Jam but has no preferred destinations at the moment.
**Tai Turnage, a top-100 recruit in the class of 2025 out of St. Raymond’s (NY.), has heard from Seton Hall, Creighton, Mississippi State, Pitt, Rhode Island, San Diego, Bryant, Fordham, UMass, NJIT, Northern Illinois, and Hofstra, among others.
The 5-foot-11 point guard says San Diego has been texting him every day, while he has longtime family ties to Seton Hall.
Turnage’s father went to high school with Seton Hall head coach Shaheen Holloway.
“I just like that he’s [Holloway] from my hometown,” Turnage said. “He’s very energized and that’s the type of coach I like and I’m that type of player. I think I’d fit into his system very well.”
Turnage saw Rhode Island and Fordham last summer and will look to see some schools later this summer.
**Christian Jeffrey, a guard in the class of 2025 out of Bishop Loughlin (NY.), has heard from Pitt, Hofstra, Fordham, Northern Illinois, Quinnipiac, and Columbia, among others.
He recently visited Fordham and Quinnipiac and will look to see Northern Illinois Peach Jam.
Fordham: “I like how they run their offense,” he said. “They take pride in their defense a lot too which I like.”
Quinnipiac: “It was good,” he said. “Nice campus, nice school. “They say that I can have the ball in my hands as a starting freshman.”
**Jayden Ramirez, a 6-foot-5 combo guard in the class of 2025 out of Christ the King (NY.), holds offers and interest from Siena, Marist, DePaul, UAB, FIU, Manhattan, Fordham, and NJIT, among others.
He mentioned a very balanced recruiting process so far and will look to begin taking visits soon.
“I bring everything,” he said. “Defense, leadership, everything a coach wants me to do. I feel like I’m a very versatile player and can be an energy guy.”
**Jermel Thomas, a point guard in the class of 2026 out of Cardinal Hayes (NY.) scored 26 points and 9 assists in Sunday’s game against Bishop Molloy.
St. John’s offered after the game and want Thomas to come visit in September, his father told ZAGSBLOG.
UConn also came to see him play on Saturday.
