Class of 2025 guard Nigel James Jr., one of the biggest risers this summer, visited St. John’s, Rutgers, and Providence during the month of June.

The 6-foot Cushing Academy product (MA.) has also received offers and interest from UConn, Villanova, Georgetown, Boston College, Iowa, Iowa St., Xavier, and Virginia Tech, among several others.

James broke down his most recent visits to ZAGSBLOG:

St. John’s: “I went to their practice and it was very good,” he said. “A lot of up and down running and their offense isn’t really a set offense.”

“He [Rick Pitino] talked to me after and he was like that’s why I think you fit here very well because it’s mainly based off the guards, pick-and-roll, so it’s not just like a system they run. And he was just telling me he loves my game.”

Rutgers: “Rutgers I liked,” he said. “I liked their campus, I love their program – they have a great program there. They have great facilities and a good vibe all around.”

“I talked to [Steve] Pikiell their head coach,” James continued. “He said we only recruit the best of the best and we think you are one of the best.”

Providence: “I love Providence,” he said. “I was there with coach [Kim] English. I was at their practice and it looked really good – their team looks really good with the new coaching staff and everything fits really well there.”

James mentioned Marquette, Providence, Rutgers, and Wake Forest have been coming after him the hardest right now.
