Jim Larrañaga has scooped up his first recruit in the class of 2024 with four-star shooting guard Austin Swartz announcing his commitment to the Hurricanes on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Cannon High School (NC) chose Miami over UConn, Georgia, Clemson, Florida State, Indiana, Virginia Tech, and Notre Dame.
“I believe Miami and coach Larranaga can help reach my goal of making the NBA,” Swartz told ESPN. “They have had success with guards who can shoot and score, recently with Isaiah Wong, who has the same type of size and frame as me. They had Shane Larkin, who could really shoot it deep.”
Swartz continued.
“They play a five-out offense and allow their guards to make decisions and play in space. They also play a lot of pick-and-roll. It all fits what I am looking for.”
Swartz is ranked the No. 44 player nationally by 247Sports and No. 7 overall shooting guard. The shooting guard averaged 18.9 points over the summer playing with Boo Williams AAU program in the Nike EYBL.
