NEW YORK — Five-star wing Tre Johnson is here in Manhattan this weekend for the Nike World Basketball Festival where he’s playing on South team, and he has several visits lined up for the coming weeks.
In addition to a visit to Baylor (Sept. 22-24), the 6-foot-6 shooting guard from Link Academy (MO) is planning trips to Alabama (Oct. 13) and Arkansas (Oct. 20), his father told ZAGSBLOG.
Johnson is working with a top six of Kentucky, Kansas, Texas, Alabama, Arkansas, Baylor. He’s also said the NBA G League Ignite is an option.
Kentucky coach John Calipari and two assistants were in at Link this past week to see Johnson and Class of 2025 teammate Jasper Johnson. Texas coach Rodney Terry was also in last week after Tre Johnson visited Texas last month.
He recently told Eric Bossi of 247Sports.com that he may wait until the spring to make a decision.
“I want to see what everybody has coming and how I could be used and which place is the best option,” he told 247. “It’s about what is best for me. It doesn’t really matter who somebody might go out and get or the transfer portal, we all have to fight for that one spot and I feel like if you are doing that against good guys and you get that spot then you are getting better overall.”
