Alabama will take on Wake Forest in a charity exhibition game on Oct. 29. The contest is set to unfold at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Winston-Salem, N.C.
All proceeds from the game will fund stroke research at the Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Stroke Center. The exhibition will also provide Alabama and Wake Forest an opportunity to play against another high-major program before the season starts.
“Partnering with Wake Forest for such a significant cause is both an honor and a thrill,” Alabama head coach Nate Oats said via an Alabama press release. “This game transcends basketball—it’s about making a difference. Plus, it’s a great platform to measure ourselves against Wake Forest’s formidable program, especially in an away game.”
The game is advertised as free to enter. However, attendees are encouraged to make a generous voluntary donation, with a suggested amount of $20 at the Joel Coliseum doors.
For those who wish to contribute to the cause from afar, an online donation platform is now up and running.
Alabama is coming off a 31-6 season in which it secured the NCAA Tournament’s No. 1 overall seed for the first time in program history. The Crimson Tide went on to fall to San Diego State in the Sweet 16. Wake Forest is coming off a 19-14 season and narrowly missed the NCAA Tournament.
Alabama is 5-2 all-time against Wake Forest.
